Construction Material Calculator, Pakistan Standards

Estimating bricks, cement bags, steel and sand correctly is the difference between a smooth build and constant material runs to the godown. This four-tab calculator uses Pakistani construction standards (modular bricks 13.5 per cubic foot, 1:2:4 standard residential mix, Grade-60 deformed steel at 1.5% of concrete volume) to give you accurate quantities for any wall, slab or foundation.

Bricks Calculator

Pakistani modular bricks are typically 9 ร— 4.5 ร— 3 inches, giving 13.5 bricks per cubic foot of brickwork including mortar joints. The calculator adds 5% wastage to account for breakage and cutting at edges, which is the industry standard for first-class machine bricks. For boundary walls (9-inch thickness), expect 27 bricks per square foot of wall face. For internal partition walls (4.5-inch), about 13.5 bricks per square foot.

Cement Calculator

Concrete mix ratios, 1:1.5:3 (M20), 1:2:4 (M15) and 1:3:6 (M10), represent cement : sand : crush by volume. Standard residential slabs use 1:2:4 requiring approximately 0.22 cement bags per cubic foot of concrete. Heavy structural elements (columns, beams, cantilevers) use 1:1.5:3 (M20) requiring 0.30 bags/cuft. Foundation PCC uses 1:3:6 (M10) at 0.16 bags/cuft. Each cement bag in Pakistan is 50 kg (about 0.7 cubic feet).

Steel Calculator

Steel as percentage of concrete volume varies by structural design, 1.0% for light residential, 1.5% for standard residential (most common), and 2.0% for heavy or cantilevered elements. The calculator converts concrete volume to cubic meters (1 cu ft = 0.0283 mยณ), multiplies by steel ratio and by 7,850 kg/mยณ (steel density). Grade-60 deformed bars (sizes 8, 10, 12, 16 mm) are standard for residential RCC. Always use a structural engineer-stamped drawing for actual quantities and bar schedule.

Sand and Crush Calculator

Sand and crush quantities follow the mix ratio with a wet-to-dry conversion factor of 0.74 (concrete shrinks when mixed). The calculator gives both in cubic feet, plus trolley count (1 trolley = 130 cu ft, standard Lahore-area dumper truck). Lahore market rates for 2026: sand Rs. 35/cu ft (Chenab or Ravi), crush Rs. 50/cu ft (graded). Variations exist for premium grades, washed sand for plaster runs Rs. 55-65/cu ft.

2026 Lahore Market Rates (Indicative)

Bricks (first-class machine): Rs. 14-16 each. Cement (DG Khan, Maple Leaf, Bestway): Rs. 1,350-1,450/bag. Grade-60 steel (Mughal, Amreli, Ittefaq): Rs. 280-310/kg. Sand: Rs. 30-40/cu ft. Crush: Rs. 45-55/cu ft. These vary weekly, confirm rates with your supplier before ordering. The calculator uses mid-range values.

Why This Matters for Your Build

Material constitutes roughly 65-70% of construction cost. Underestimating bricks or cement causes mid-build stop-work and delayed handover. Overestimating wastes capital and creates storage problems on tight Lahore plots. Use this calculator for procurement planning, then validate with your contractor BOQ for the final order quantity.

FAQs

Material Calculator, FAQs

How many bricks are needed for a 9 inch wall in Pakistan?

Standard 9 inch (full brick) wall requires 13.5 modular bricks per cubic foot of wall, plus 5% wastage. For a 10 ร— 10 ft wall section: 100 sq ft ร— 0.75 ft thick = 75 cu ft ร— 13.5 = 1,012 bricks + 5% = 1,065 bricks total.

What is the standard cement mix ratio for residential slab in Pakistan?

1:2:4 (M15), one part cement, two parts sand, four parts crush, is the standard for residential roof slabs and floor slabs. For columns and heavy beams, use 1:1.5:3 (M20). For PCC and foundation flooring, 1:3:6 (M10) is sufficient.

How much steel goes into a 1,000 sq ft slab?

At standard 5-inch thickness and 1.5% steel ratio: 1,000 sq ft ร— 5/12 ft ร— 0.0283 (cu m conversion) ร— 1.5% ร— 7,850 kg/mยณ โ‰ˆ 490 kg of Grade-60 deformed bars. Always confirm with structural drawings.

What is the difference between Grade-40 and Grade-60 steel?

Grade-60 has higher yield strength (60,000 psi vs 40,000 psi for Grade-40), allowing thinner sections and longer spans for the same load. All major Pakistani structural steel brands, Mughal, Amreli, Ittefaq, Naveena, produce Grade-60 deformed bars. Use Grade-60 for all RCC residential construction.

How much sand and crush is in 1 trolley?

Standard Lahore dumper trolley capacity is 130 cubic feet. Some smaller trolleys hold 100 cu ft; tractor trolleys 80-90 cu ft. Confirm with your supplier before ordering quantity in trolley units.

Does Pillarstone Developers supply construction materials?

Yes. Under our grey structure packages (PKR 3,000 to 3,400/sft) and 'A Grade Finished House' (PKR 5,000/sft) package, we supply all material to engineered specifications. We use bulk-buy contracts with DG Khan, Maple Leaf, Mughal and Amreli, passing on the rate advantage.
